An "Avalanche" of Folk-Rock

I decided to name this post after D-Twom's favorite coffee drink at MO's. That's him behind the drum kit, all charged up on caffeine, focusing intently on a song that he was most likely hearing for the first time! So it went Saturday night in the cozy confines of MO's Edge Coffeehouse, just off the University of Memphis campus.

I was pleased to have the opporutnity to return the favor for The Archives, who opened a show for us a couple of months ago. My pal Matt Oliver, of Memphis Jones Revolution and Stout fame, joined me on lead guitar. As usual, he was incredible. The equally fantastic David joined us on drums for several tunes before taking the stage with his band, who just released their fine debut CD (available exclusively at MO's).

Here's a look at what we played:

1) Bad Vibrations
2) Hey Now, Little Skyliner
3) We
4) When Your Feet Thud Unexpected on My Mat
5) Cortez the Killer (Neil Young)
6) Back to Sleep
7) Summer
8) Ten Second News (Son Volt)
9) Real Live Suburban Rock 'n Roll Dad
10) Take Care (Big Star)

And fresh off a wedding reception that kept him from playing the gig, guess who showed up in TCS gig attire?! It was weird playing a show, looking out into the audience and seeing Ted--for the first time ever! Quite naturally, we spent some time drinking wine and analyzing the show afterwards.
